You Can Have A Better Relationship By Being Wrong To Be Right

In your relationship do you find it difficult to say you are wrong? If you answer yes, you may find it just as difficult to admit that you don’t know an answer. Men in particular suffer from this second one. However, in a relationship, a lot of women do as well.

If you think that your partner will think less of you in your relationship just because of this you had better think again. It may be that you think they will think that you’re somehow unintelligent or incompetent and so you’d rather guess an answer just to impress them. This is a bad idea.

Research reveals that, simply because of the positive image we want to project to our partners, we avoid these apparently self-depreciating words. You want to look good in your partner’s eyes. So you claim to know stuff you don’t know to accomplish this.

Even after you’ve been proven wrong, perhaps you’re used to steadfastly defending a position you’ve taken in factual argument or a discussion. Because many people do this in relationships, it’s no wonder that they appear to push their partner away from them.

If you’re in this position, here’s a quick question for you.

If you admit you’ve made a mistake or admit that you don’t know the answer to something, do you believe that it’s possible that can actually work in your favor and make you look good in your partner’s eyes? The truth is this is possible.

By saying “I’m wrong” or “I don’t know” instantly you’re going to let your partner know that that you’re honest and confident in your abilities and open to disclosing to them, what short-sighted people may consider to be, imperfections that you might have.

As we all know, there’s no one who is ALWAYS 100% right. If you’re ready to admit that you’re wrong or that you don’t know something, this reminds your partner that you dare to be different, that you’re truly confident, that and above all that you can be trusted to be honest.

So you see you can be wrong to be right – it’s entirely possible.
